HIS KILLING PRINCESS by @AprilZyon #darkromance #bdsm #mafia @EvernightPub

Antonio Bruno always knew that secrets and death were a part of the life he chose, so he never intended to fall in love with Emily Reynolds, a woman who embodies innocence. He attempts to shield her from his life as second in command of the Italian Mob, but sometimes the best-laid plans can come apart at the seams.

Emily is no stranger to secrets herself. One thing she’s always been truthful about is how much she loves Tony. When a home invasion steals her from his life, one twisted lie turns into another, pitting these two lovers against one another.

Despite the odds, there’s a chance Tony and Emily can fight to save their relationship. That's if they aren’t killed in the process of finding the traitor in the midst of the Italian Mafia. Can these star-crossed lovers weed through all of the deception? And how far are they willing to go to be together?

Excerpt:

Emily and Antonio met by pure chance. She had been thinking of their meeting just as much as she had been thinking of their past, mostly because she was thinking of a future with him. She was thinking of a future with him because of another huge secret she was holding from him.
She sighed and closed her eyes. God, she had so much to tell him. She just prayed the man would understand. Then again, he was a killer as well, with a code as strong as her own. She lay in their bed and waited for him. As soon as he entered the room, all thoughts of telling him anything flew out the door and instead she knew he needed to simply forget. They had been together for five months, in that time they hadn’t used protection from the first moment they got together which brought her to the thoughts she was having about their futures now.
That was the thing about them sharing professions. She could read his body language better than he likely knew she could. Emily rose to her feet and walked to Tony. As she moved toward him, she stripped out of her negligée and stood before him in all her naked glory. She knew what he saw. Emily wasn’t shy about her body any longer. She now embraced her womanly attributes, and that was all thanks to Antonio.
She had scars, ones that couldn’t be hidden but had been explained away easily enough with the smallest of lies, ones she had hated to tell him and couldn’t wait to tell him the truth on. As he had told her before, her breasts were the size of ripe grapefruits, her skin a pale milk color, and her hair as red as fire. Or so he liked to tell her.
She moved to Tony silently and began to strip him of his clothes, loving the way her pale skin looked against his very dark skin. Sliding Tony’s shirt from his body, she scraped her nails over his beautifully toned six pack abs and looked up into his troubled eyes. “Hard day?” she asked while working on his pants.
She felt emboldened by this man. It was hard to imagine that before him she had been a virgin. She had killed a hundred horrible men but never had taken a lover. Tony had been intense, wonderful, and she had known from the moment she met him that he was the one for her.
“You have no idea, sweetheart.” Tony took her hand in his and shook his head. “You know that is not how I play.” He growled lightly at her and then leaned down, taking one of her nipples into his mouth and suckling hard. “I do love being greeted at the door by you naked, however. From here out I think you should greet me like this when I come home, but only when I text you and tell you I’m coming home alone. I would hate to kill a friend who saw my woman naked.”
She shivered. Had any other man demanded anything of her like that she would kill them and leave their bodies for the cops to find. Period. She wasn’t one to be commanded, but with Tony, it turned her on. She seemed to need it. “Yes, Sir.” She bowed her head in supplication. She knew she would do anything he asked her to do. She would because she knew he would always ensure she had pleasure, no matter what. Tony would do anything for Emily just as she would for him.
“Are you hungry?”
“Only for you, Emmy girl, only for you,” Tony said only a second before he picked her up and carried her to their bedroom.
Emily held back her laughter when he tossed her on the bed, because she saw the look of sheer bleak need on his face. She reached back, grabbed the headboard, and watched him strip. He all but radiated the need to control, the need to dominate in a way that eclipsed anything they had ever shared before, and it almost scared her, almost.
Author Bio:
Having been a lover of the written word all her life April has always wanted to expand her horizons and write something that could be shared with the world. Only one thing held April back, the fact that the letters and numbers mixed and jumbled more often than not. Diagnosed with Dyslexia when she was eight years old April had to work her butt off just to be able to keep up with the other kids in reading and writing, so her love for fictional writing was tossed to the wayside for the moment.
Time marched on, as it always does, and she forgot her childhood dream of becoming an author and instead focused on what she had to—creating a career for herself.
As the endless waves of time passed the shores became less rocky and more sandy, a place where she could find an even foot. That and Microsoft invented Word. Hallelujah.
This is where April began her journey into the written world, the world that her imagination had been ceaselessly creating for her entire adult life.
Now she has been given a chance to let her literary wings unfold and fly, thanks to the amazing publisher Evernight Publishing.
Now it's time to let the dream take flight and watch it soar!

Author Bio

Margaret Tanner is an award winning, multi-published Australian author, who writes Contemporary Romance, Historical Romance and Western Romance. She loves delving into the pages of history as she carries out research for her historical romance novels. No book is too old or tattered for her to trawl through, no museum too dusty. Many of her novels have been inspired by true events, with one being written around the hardships and triumphs of her pioneering ancestors in frontier Australia. She once spent a couple of hours in an old goal cell so she could feel the chilling cold and fear.
Her favorite historical period is the 1st World War, and she has visited the battlefields in France and Belgium, a truly poignant experience.
With the encouragement of friend and Western Romance author, Susan Horsnell, she has fallen in love with writing Western Historical Romance.  Frontier Australia and frontier America, have many similarities, isolated communities, a large single male population and a lack of eligible women.
Margaret has a short story published in the Western Romance Anthology, Rawhide ‘N Roses which was a 2015 Rone Finalist.
Margaret was also thrilled and excited to be invited to contribute a novella in the ground breaking series American Mail Order Brides. 50 brides from 50 different States in America, from 45 different authors. Her contribution is Edwina – Bride of Connecticut, Book No. 5 in the series.
Margaret is married and has three grown up sons, and a gorgeous little granddaughter.
Outside of her family and friends, writing is her passion.

On A Knife’s Edge by @AuthorLyndaB #Suspense #Action #Romance #BookTour #Amazon #Kindle

On a Knife's Edge
She was once his sweet salvation…
Lynch Callan has been a dead man walking most of his life—nothing out of the ordinary for a member of the 5th Street biker gang. There was a brief period, though, when she made him believe he could be more. That he could be worthy of her, and her love. To protect her, and keep their relationship from being discovered, he went to prison. Except now the Streeters are in danger. But in order to save his crew, he must first betray them. If caught, he’ll end up dead for sure. It’ll be the mother of all balancing acts—especially with her in the picture. But Lynch will do whatever is necessary to protect the people he loves.
He was once her deepest desire… Shasta Albright doesn’t break the rules. Not anymore. As an unruly teenager, she defied her family at every turn…even secretly befriending, then dating, then falling in love with a bad boy Streeter. Finally her recklessness caught up with her—with lasting and even dire consequences. Now she leads a pristine existence, always staying within the lines and keeping her secrets hidden. That is until he gets released from prison. Can Shasta hold her perfect world together, or will everything get hurled into chaos?
With young girls going missing, the sleepy town of Stardust, Nevada becomes an unlikely epicenter for an illicit slave trade—with Shasta and Lynch caught in the middle. Amidst the rising body count, they fight to keep their loved ones—and each other—safe. A single slipup could have deadly repercussions. It’s an untenable and treacherous position. Much like walking On a Knife’s Edge…

Excerpt #4 – PG…

Agent Newman pulled out his phone and swiped the screen. The device chirped once. “Shit.” He stuffed the cell back into his pocket then came around the sofa and none-too-gently elbowed Shasta into standing. He scooped Wyatt into his arms.
“What are you doing?” she demanded.
“Getting you and your son out of here.” The agent turned to the door. “I’ll come back for Callan.”
Panic swelled in Shasta’s chest. “We can’t go. What about Graham? He doesn’t have his wheelchair. He could in one of the bedrooms, unconscious and hurt.”
Newman flattened his mouth. “You smell the gas. This place could catch fire any second. I won’t risk your safety.” He jerked his chin to the door. “Now let’s go.”
She headed for the hallway. “Take Wyatt outside. I’ll just be a minute checking the rooms.”
“Goddamn it…wait.”
She stopped and looked over her shoulder. Newman carefully deposited her son back on the couch and came up beside her. He flipped on the hallway light switch, but nothing happened.
After another colorful expletive, the agent propped his foot on the wall and unstrapped a handgun from its ankle holster. He held it out to Shasta. “You know how to shoot?”
She shrank back slightly. “Why do I need a gun?”
“Is that a yes or no?”
“Yes, I can shoot.”
“Good.” He chambered a round and pressed the weapon into her hand. “The safety’s off. Stay here and try not to shoot me when I come back.”
Shasta watched him move stealthily down the dark corridor until blackness enveloped him. Lynch moaned and she dashed to his side. “Hey…”
His eyelids fluttered as he lifted his head. “Shaly?” It sounded like the word hurt his throat.
She gripped his hand. “Yes…it’s me.”
He blinked, his focus unclear. “Go. Get outta here…now.”
“We will once Agent Newman finds Graham.”
Lynch shook his head then groaned. “You…don’t understand. Danger…you’re in…” His eyes rolled back. “…dan…ger…” His head sagged down to his chest.
Shasta carefully jostled his shoulder. “Lynch?”
A loud thump from the bedrooms jolted her heart. She hastened to her feet. Adjusting her sweaty hold on Newman’s gun, she tiptoed toward the unlit hallway. Slow, steady footsteps approached.
“Agent Newman?”
No answer. But the footfalls grew nearer.
She retreated as an indistinguishable figure gradually walked forward. She knew it was a man, but she also realized it wasn’t Agent Newman. This man was taller and not as broad in the shoulders.
The first thing she saw were his shoes. Even in the weak illumination, she could tell they were expensive, with a polished shine. Next came slacks with crisp, tight creases. Newman wore a unkempt suit.
“Agent…Newman?” She hated that her voice quaked.
“No, sweetheart. Not Agent Newman.”

Shasta recoiled at the familiar baritone voice.

About Lynda…

I have no doubt I was born a storyteller.

I remember telling my first “story” in kindergarten. I informed my teacher, Mrs. Downing, that my mom had just had a baby boy. She hadn’t, of course, and while I got thoroughly admonished for my “storytelling,” I wasn’t deterred from what would become a lifelong passion.

From making up tales as a kid which centered around my favorite TV shows to today, I love telling stories! Stories with handsome guys and spunky gals, that always…always end with a happily-ever-after.

My romances are full of passion, with heat levels that range from hot to sizzling! I've been a finalist in numerous writing contests, including RWA’s® prestigious Golden Heart® in 2010. Please join me for laughter, love and that all important HEA.

Standard Author Interview
Do you have any news you’d like to share with us?
My new release will be included in the next Growlers and Prowlers Boxed set to be released April 4th. This is my first step into the realm of the paranormal. It’s titled Chicks Dig Scars.
What inspired you to write your first book?
I’m a critical care nurse trained in trauma, cardiac and surgical intensive care medicine. I was recovering a lot of open heart surgery patients at the time. I don’t know if you know this, but traditionally, cardiovascular surgeons aren’t the nicest guys to work with. A lot of them are just plain jerks. Some will yell, throw things, accuse the nurses when their patients aren’t doing well… I’d pretty much had it and decided to put them all into one hot package and make him a nice guy by the end of the book. It was very cathartic. LOL
How much of your book(s) have a bit of you in the characters?
Oh, gosh, I think my heroines all have a piece of me in them. Faith has my obsession with chocolate. Roxanne has my love of baking and cooking. JJ has my potty mouth and love of useless facts no one would ever care about. Kate has my love of life and adventure. Rachel has my love of nursing and compassion for my patients. The list goes on.
Can you share a little of your current work with us?
Sure. Here’s part of the opening chapter of Chicks Dig Scars. This is unedited as the manuscript is with my editor.
            Live! Damn it, Live!
Warm tears streamed down Rachel O’Dea’s face.  She pumped on Seamus Jameson’s chest and tried to swallow past the lump of pain and helplessness that formed in her throat.  She couldn’t even verbally count each concise, rapid chest compression out loud to the code team anymore. It was all she could do to maintain her composure and continue to assist.
The shrill alarms still buzzed loudly in her ears.  Rachel’s gaze shot to the bedside heart monitor displaying his oxygen level, blood pressure and heartbeat.  All read zero.
Life!  Come on Seamus.  Come on.  I need something to work with here.  Give me a sign.  Beat, dammit!
“Let go, Rachel girl. Let go.”
Seamus’ Irish lilt gently washed over her and she faltered. She dared a glance at his grey face, void of all signs of life. A sob wrenched from her parted lips. No! She refused to accept what her eyes told her. Rachel moved her gaze from Seamus’ lifeless body to the overhead monitor. Green, flat lines seemed to mock her from the flashing lights on the display.  She restarted chest compressions with renewed vigor. “Come back, damn you,” she said in a pain filled voice.
“Rachel.”  She ignored the compassion in her best friend and fellow nurse Laura Parker’s voice.  That tone of finality fueled her efforts and she continued.  Seamus couldn’t be dead.  He’d only been sixty-five.  Rachel loved him as much as her own father.  He’d been a dear friend and confidant.  Had she failed him when it had mattered most?
“Rachel.  Stop.  Dr. Morris called it,” Laura Parker said, gently laying a hand on her arm.
God, no.  “Called it?  No, we can’t stop now.  What about another amp of epinephrine?  Do we have any more sodium bicarb?  Have his blood gases come back?”
            It’s okay, Rachel girl.
Rachel hesitated, could almost hear his voice, the pet name he called her, like he’d already given up, but that was impossible. Only this morning they’d been talking about all the things he’d wanted to get finished before he’d pass into the great beyond as he’d referred to the afterlife. He’d missed his wife, Evie, and had told her many times over the last year that one day they’d be together again.
Laura’s lips moved, but it was Seamus’ voice Rachel heard.
Let me go, Rachel girl.
            Rachel glanced at Laura.  “What?”
Laura covered Rachel’s clasped hands with her own and stilled her compressions. “I said it’s over, hon. He’s gone.  Dr. Morris called it.  “I’ll do his post mortem care.  Why don’t you take a break, huh?”
Rachel stared at her palms on Seamus’ chest.  She inhaled a ragged breath.  The smell of death hung in the air.  Her eyes were drawn to Seamus’s lifeless body, ravaged by the code.  Blood spattered the sheets from the multiple lab draws, and empty syringes from the cardiac meds given intravenously, littered the bed.  All the drawers from the crash cart were opened haphazardly as the team had rifled through them during the resuscitation effort.
For a moment there she could have sworn she’d heard Seamus’ voice, but as her tear-filled gaze swept over him, she knew that to be impossible. His skin was gray with deep purplish hues around his ears and neck.  While she'd pressed down on his chest, she was sure she'd felt one of his ribs crack.  Bile rose in the back of Rachel’s throat.  She fought back the urge to gag, unable to stop staring.
An endotracheal tube, used to give him oxygen during the team's resuscitation efforts, dangled uselessly from his mouth.  His blue eyes—once so full of laughter and joy—now clouded, stared sightlessly.
Rachel’s chest knotted with guilt.  How could this have happened?   When she'd started her shift today, he'd been feeling so much better.  Had she missed something?  Some vital sign or subtle change in his physical assessment that would've clued her in to his impending death?  Seamus hadn't even begun to enjoy the beginning of what was supposed to be his golden years.
Unable to stand the sight of him like this, she gathered fresh linens and a pink bath basin.
“Why don’t you take that break?  Or, better yet, the day off.”  Laura rubbed Rachel on the back.  “We’ll cover your patients.”
Rachel continued to prepare to clean him up and shook her head.   She inhaled deeply.  Blinking back the tears, she shed her latex gloves, dumped them in the trash and walked to the sink to wash her hands.  She pulled her bottom lip between her teeth.  What had she missed?
“Stop chewing on your bottom lip.”  Laura’s soft words interrupted her thoughts.
Rachel popped her lip from her teeth.  “I’m not.”
“Yeah, right.  You’ve done it since the first time we met.  You remember?”
She shook her head in denial.
“When we were in kindergarten, Mitch Caine pulled on your pigtails and you punched him in the stomach.  Then we both shoved him into the sandbox.”  Laura chuckled.
“Oh, yeah.  He was so mad.  The neighborhood cats had been using it as a litter box.  I’d forgotten that little gem.  How do you remember all that stuff?” Rachel asked.
“He blipped my creep radar, kind of like our new administrator.  God that guy gives me the willies.  He was just standing there in the doorway during the code with his creeper smile playing about his lips.”  Laura rubbed her arms with her hands as if she was trying to warm herself.
Rachel frowned. Laura’s creep radar was always spot on.  Listening to her friend when it had come to dating her ex husband, Mick, would have saved her a whole lot of pain and misery.
Would’ve, should’ve, could’ve… Rachel sighed.
Laura pushed the crash cart out the door into the hall then turned her attention toward the bed as Rachel dried her hands with paper towels from the dispenser.   She tossed the waste into the trash.
“Laura,” Rachel said softly.  “I got this.”
Laura pierced her with her worried gaze.  “You sure, hon?”
Rachel took several deep breaths and pulled a fresh pair of latex gloves on, struggling with the rubber over her still damp hands.  “I can’t let you all do my work for me.  Thanks to the all-mighty budget cuts, we’re stretched to the limit as it is.”  She grimaced.  “I’ll call you when I’m ready to bag him.”
Laura hesitated.  “Well,” she said.  “If you’re sure…  I’ll try and get a hold of his son again.  Ruby wasn’t having any luck earlier when all this went down.”
Rachel nodded, staring at Seamus’ lifeless body.  She heard the soft click of the door behind her as Laura left the room.  Her vision blurred.  Covering her eyes with her hands, she fought the grief that threatened to pull her beneath a strong under toe, where everything was cold and dark.
He’s in a better place now.
He doesn’t have to suffer any more.
Rachel tried to console herself with the same words she told family members who’d had loved ones pass away.  The words seemed so hollow and empty.  She’d never, ever speak them again.  She choked back a sob.  God, sometimes her job sucked.

Is there anything you find particularly challenging in your writing?
Finding the time to write. I work 2 full time jobs trying to get my children through college. Someday I’ll be a full time writer and part time nurse
What was the hardest part of writing your book(s)?
Trying to show you all the real life medical action without it coming across as too technical. I want my readers to understand what they’re reading and I strive to make that happen. That’s why I consider myself lucky that the editors I’ve had the privilege of working with don’t have a medical background.
Do you have anything else you’d like to add?
My current Novella, Sex Is The Best Medicine is available for preorder now on Amazon. This is where you’ll read Dr. Grant Anderson’s story. Here’s the blurb:
