Story Excerpt:
Her eyes opening shocked him. Lucian stood rapidly and darted to the doorway, hoping his speed had stopped her from seeing him. He sped into the living area and headed to the front door. Amy’s voice ground him to a halt before he reached it.
“What the hell are you doing inside my apartment?” she asked angrily.
Lucian turned. How had she gotten to the entrance hall so quickly? His speed was unmatched, and there was no way she could have gotten out of bed and walked there as quickly as he’d moved. Lucian saw the anger in her expression. He winced.
“I’m sorry. I….”
“Don’t. Just don’t. First you try and kill me. Then you all but drag me from the club. What am I? Some kind of obsession for you? What next? Strangle me while I sleep. Get out!”
“Amy. Please. I don’t want to hurt you. I came here to help protect you,” Lucian said, hoping more than anything their confrontation hadn’t woken her friend.
“You broke into my apartment. For all I know, you could be some kind of serial killer. Get out before I call the police,” Amy demanded.
“Amy. Please don’t be afraid… I,” Lucian said, taking a step closer to her.
Amy step backward. Her gazed bored straight into him, and if it were laced with poison, he’d be dead where he stood.
“Afraid. I’m not afraid. I’m damn well livid. How do you know my name? Why are you following me?” Amy asked.
Lucian glanced down at her hands. They were clasped tight enough for her knuckles to glare white. It was another visual sign of her anger toward him. “My name is Lucian Dark. I didn’t mean to break in, but you need to come with me. The males who were at the club want to take you. I want to help keep you safe,” he explained quickly.
He watched Amy’s reaction closely. Her defiant stance was unmoving, and she was good at guarding her emotions.
“I don’t care who you are. You broke into my apartment, so ‘didn’t mean to’ isn’t quite the truth, is it? I want you to leave me alone. I’m not going anywhere with you, and I don’t need anyone to keep me safe. I asked you to leave,” Amy said, more calmly.
“You don’t understand…,” Lucian began.
“No. You don’t understand. I don’t need anyone’s help. You appeared to deal with those males effectively. Go do whatever it is you do and leave me the hell alone,” she said.
Lucian watched the female take a step backward. He frowned. “You know who I am, don’t you?”
“I know what you are. For all I know you could be working with them. You best leave,” Amy said.
“I’m not going anywhere. I have nothing to do with those males. Do you know who they are?” Lucian asked, taking a step forward.
“No.”
Lucian sensed Amy knew exactly who the males at the club were. She had no intention of revealing anything. She was still obviously angry, but at least her tone had calmed. Maybe she would allow him to speak to her. Maybe, just maybe, he had a chance at convincing her to go with them.

Adult Excerpt 18+ only
Before he could answer, Lucian’s control broke. He reached forward and pressed his body against her. Her skin felt smooth and delicious against his, and his lust for her soared through him. Her full, rounded breasts contained in her swimsuit pressed against his chest muscles, and it caused a frenzy of desire to run through his veins. He took her head in one of his hands and pressed his lips against hers. If it wasn’t for the water cooling his skin, he would have caught fire at the sensation of her mouth opening up to him. She didn’t falter, but took him willingly. Her sweet taste was delicious as he explored her mouth with his tongue, and her reaction to him was just as passionate. He took every desire of his mate straight to his heart.
Her arms around his body pulled him closer. He felt her legs wrap around his waist, and his dick throbbed to be inside her. He knew she’d be able to feel his hard shaft against her clit, and he circled his hips, losing himself in the growing desire to shed her of the suit that was stopping him from feeling more of her body. She was responding to his need as desperately as he was, and he deepened the kiss, groaning deeply in his chest. She was possessing every emotion inside him. With her, he could feel again, and it was both scary and exhilarating. He couldn’t stop even if the whole place caught fire. She felt right in his arms, and he knew he’d never be able to let her go. He just hoped she felt the same way.

Q&A:
Q. Please tell us about your latest book.

A. This book delves into the life of Lucian, one of the lords of the Mist. He meets Amy Jackson and becomes obsessed with who she really is. She’d hiding something, and doesn’t want to put others at risk but he knows he has to do everything he can to protect her. Will he reject her when he finds out the truth?
This book was so much fun to write. Amy’s character is defiant and strong willed, and it was so enjoyable writing the scenes of her and Lucian’s confrontations. They are battling between desire for each other, and at the same time keeping themselves from getting involved. I found balancing their love for each other, and their desire to deny their future, a challenge.

Q. How do we find out about you and your books?

A. All my books can be found on my website      - abbiecarlisle.weebly.com
                                                       Bookstrand         - www.bookstrand.com/abbie-carlisle
                                                           Goodreads      - http://www.goodreads.com/Abbie_Carlisle

Q. Why did you decide to write romance novels?

A. I’ve read paranormal romance books for years after being introduced to them by my twin sister. I especially love Laurann Dohner books and decided one day to put my ideas down on paper. Once I started to write, it was like a buzz that I couldn’t stop until I had finished my first book. Now I’ve just submitted my 6th and my love of writing is still as strong.

Q. How much of your personality and life experiences are in your writing?

A. Writing paranormal genre allows you to put in some personal life experiences but it can also allow you the freedom to be creative. I love being able to create personalities for characters that are fun and interesting but also dark and mysterious.

Q. Do you have a set schedule for writing or do you just go with the flow?

A. I don’t have a schedule as such, I just write whenever I get the chance. In between family and work, I usually get to write at the end of the day when it’s peaceful.

Q. What do you do to relax and recharge your batteries?

A. I love to relax by reading my Kindle where I have lots of my favourite author’s books. I usually start reading and keep going until I’ve read the whole series.

Q. Do you feel humour is important in women's fiction and why?

A. I feel it’s important for readers to relate to the characters in the book and humour is a good way to create enjoyment. If a character is cheeky or sarcastic, in a nice way, what better way to engage a reader and make them want to know more about the characters.

Q. What are your thoughts on love scenes in romance novels, do you find them difficult to write?
A. I don’t find them too difficult to write. Sometimes I need to edit to ensure I don’t make them too long or repetitive. I always try to make them different so the readers are not reading the same words or sentences over and over. I make them emotionally descriptive to help the readers sense the passion.

Q. What kind of research do you do?

A. I research a lot on settings and characters visually to help my writing to be more descriptive. I find this helps the readers to really visualize as they read.

Q. Do you have a favorite author? Favorite book?

A. My favourite author is Laurann Dohner and my favourite book is Braun. She is an amazing author and is able to create emotionally intense scenes of possession but can also make you laugh. Her characters are interesting and powerful which makes her stories fun to read.
Q. Have you always wanted to be a writer?

A. I have always enjoyed reading but never thought of myself as a writer. Now I have written 6 novels, I can never imagine not wanting to ever stop writing now.

Q. How many books have you written, and how many of those have been published?

A. I’ve written 6 books and they have been published straight away. I’m hoping the following books in the series will also have the privilege of being published.

Q. Have you experienced writer's block---> If so, how did you work through it?

A. I have hit writer’s block in the middle of the books. I left them for a few days and returned to them. I re-read a few chapters and find things that didn’t sound right and this helped me move forward with the stories.

Q. What is the most rewarding thing about being a writer?

A. Completing a book full of fun, love and intense desire is exciting. Being able to give readers enjoyment from reading a great story is immensely rewarding.

Q. Are there any words of encouragement for unpublished writers?

A. Don’t ever give up. Sometimes it’s difficult but believe in the ideas you have. If you love it, others will too. Join readers groups, it’s a great way to interact and get ideas and support.

You can often find her relaxing with Bram Stoker, Stephen King, Herman Melville, Jayne Krentz, Linda Howard, Virginia Henley, Delilah Devlin, Jaci Burton, Jaid Black or Angela Knight. She soon discovered a love for writing and characters just waiting to tell their stories. Since that time, writing has become an obsession.

The Trouble with Parris (Grey River 7) by @Maiadylanauthor #eroticromance #shifter

Faced with her own mortality, Parris Church seeks out one of the only people in the world she can trust. Before Parris can get to her, the seizures that have been plaguing force her into hiding.

Jase and Rhys Wilson find a woman hurt and hiding behind their garden shed. Then their day gets a little strange. It turns out that she’s their mate, on the run from a mad man, and suffering from a medical condition she’s not interested in talking about. Despite her belief that there is no future for the three of them, Jase and Rhys are determined to give her a reason to live.

When they are finally given a solution that might help, Parris is followed to Grey River by a friend in need and an enemy with revenge in mind. Parris, Jase, and Rhys must deal with both if they're going to have any chance of a future.

EXCERPT - PG13
“Parris, can you hear me?” Dr. Carson’s tone was calm and unhurried. “I need you to open your eyes and talk to me.”
Parris pushed aside nausea and pain and opened her eyes farther. She blinked rapidly to clear her gaze and slowly brought the doctor’s face into focus.
“That’s it, come on back to us, sweetness.”
Parris turned her head slightly and caught sight of Jase and Rhys standing close to her bed on the opposite side to the doctor. They stood with mirrored expressions of concern mixed with relief, no doubt from seeing her awake.
“Parris?”
She turned back toward the doctor, thankful that the room was no longer spinning as fast as it had been moments before.
“Tell me how you feel?”
Parris sighed. “Other than a headache that could quite potentially put a hippopotamus on its ass, I’m just peachy.”
Chris grinned as he shone a small penlight into her eyes. She winced at the twinge of pain the light caused but froze at the sound of growling that echoed against the walls of her hospital room. Chris winked at her before he lifted his gaze to the two men growling—fucking growling—from the opposite side of the bed. “Ignore these two, they just don’t like the fact that you’re in pain.”
“No fucking kidding,” Rhys snarled, and there was a distinct distortion to his voice.
Again Parris found herself wondering what in the hell they were. And if Rhys and Jase were both telepathic and had powers that had their eyes changing colors, then perhaps Chris Carson did too. Melaina had told her she could trust everyone here and that they had nothing but her safety and best interests in mind, but did she know they were kinda possessed?
“You’ve had another seizure,” Chris informed her, and Parris knew it was a result of her using her powers. “You had a pretty severe nose bleed, that I figure was triggered by the blood vessel that was damaged during the seizure itself. Now, you need to make a decision, Parris. We’ve talked about this in private since I admitted you a week ago, and without any further incidents, I haven’t pushed you to let Rhys and Jase in on what is going on with you. However, this last seizure was a doozy, and without Melaina here, you are going to need the support I know these two growling knuckleheads can give you but only if you are open and truthful with each other.”
Chris looked up at stared pointedly at Rhys and Jase. “And only if all of you are open and honest with each other. That means you two bastards are going to have to man up and tell this woman what she needs to know. Now, I’m going to head out and grab some of the test results I’ve been waiting on. I will be back here in about fifteen minutes.” With that cryptic message to the room, he swept out the door.
Jase reached over and clasped her hand in his. When she met his gaze, she felt a connection within her start to pulse.
“Sweetheart, are you okay? You scared the shit out of us.”
Parris looked between him and Rhys and could read the fear they had for her clearly in their expressions. Before leaving, Melaina had told her to trust these men, and Chris had basically just said the same damn thing. Taking a breath, she opened her mouth and took a chance. “I’m dying.”

In January of this year, Maia submitted her first ever manuscript to Siren Publishing.  She wasn’t at all confident that it would be accepted and in fact she was expecting a nicely worded email with a resounding no!  Much to her surprise less than two weeks later she had an acceptance and a signed contract in hand.  Since then she hasn’t looked back and currently has three books in her Grey River series set for publication.

ADULT EXCERPT

“Tell me what you’re thinking,” Colin said.
“You have to ask?”
“I want to hear you say it.”
“A lot of things.”
“Like?”
“Like how fucking horny I am for you, for one.”
Colin offered up a sexy smirk and wrapped his fingers around Dustin’s cock. “Oh yeah?”
Dustin pointed down at the engorged flesh of his erection, which was decorated with a glistening drop of pre-cum right on top. “I’m hardly faking this.”
“Mmm…” Colin looked down and licked his lips once again. “I see that, and I have to admit, I like what I see.”
Oh come on! Colin, you’re killing me here.
For several seconds of what could only be described as cruel and unusual punishment, Colin looked up at Dustin while he methodically stroked his cock. His every movement seemed carefully planned out and precise, as if he was attending to every detail of his plan.
Dustin wanted to fuck Colin so bad he could almost feel the tears welling up behind his eyes from the desperation of it. If it was actually possible to cry like a baby from being too turned on, he was close to it.
“Tell me what you want,” Colin whispered.
The green of Colin’s eyes nearly sparkled with the promise of what was yet to come. Maybe Dustin really had been poisoned with magical unicorn dust, pulling him under Colin’s spell and hypnotizing him to do whatever he wanted.
Hell if he cared though. The man was too damn sexy to care about much of anything. He would probably dress up in a French maid costume if that was what Colin wanted. It would seem he was willing to do anything, just as long as Colin didn’t stop touching him.
“Cat got your tongue? I tell you that pesky pussycat is sure a problem.”
“It’s not pussy I’m interested in.”
Colin’s eyes widened at his brazen response. It wasn’t like him to be so blatant with his remarks. Brutal honesty usually wasn’t his thing. Shy and quiet was. The fire he saw blazing back at him from Colin’s eyes told him his slipup had been just fine with his teasing host.
“Tell me what you are interested in,” Colin said in a husky voice.
“You.” Suddenly nervous, he held back.
“Tell me more.”
“I already told you. You know I want you.”
“What exactly is it that you want from me?” There was a teasing glint, an unspoken challenge in Colin’s eyes.
“Jesus, are you really going to make me say it?”
“Mmm hmm.”
Colin licked his lips again and smiled at him. Damn, that lip licking should be made illegal or something. How was he supposed to refuse Colin anything when he used his tongue in such a goading manner?
“I want you to suck my cock.” There. He’d said it. Now if only Colin would grant his wish and do just that.
Colin dipped his head down and just before his lips were about to touch the head of his cock he looked back up at him. “A little tip about me…I may be tough at work sometimes, but I absolutely love it when I’m told what to do in the bedroom.”
Dustin opened his mouth to respond, but his words were stolen from him before he had a chance to utter a single one. Colin’s lips closed around the tip of his cock and he sucked the moisture that was leaking from him.
He closed his eyes and allowed his head to fall back, resting on the back of the couch. The lust he thought he felt for Colin had been nothing compared to what just shot through his body. Lightning bolts of electric heat coursed through his veins like they were on a mission of destruction.
With just that slightest touch he felt his balls draw up painfully tight, hugging the underside of his cock. His orgasm was lurking just below the surface and ready to explode. He clenched his hands into fists until his knuckles turned white. With every amount of concentration he had, he willed himself to hold on and not come yet.
His argument was futile at best. The heat of Colin’s mouth intensified when he opened it wider and took the length of Dustin back into the recesses of his throat. His lips, so soft, so firm and loving as they sucked and puckered around his cock while working his head in an up-and-down motion.
Dustin heard little moans coming from Colin and wondered how he could hear anything with the rate of his blood pressure. It was echoing inside his head like a snare drum. The rapid pounding of his heart increased with every second that passed.
Never had Dustin experienced a blow job that didn’t just suck him off, but licked at his soul. Maybe Colin actually was the devil, because what he was doing was utterly sinful, but in the best possible way.
Colin released his cock and it fell free from his mouth with a flop. He nearly groaned in protest like a greedy lover when he felt the cool air wash across his dick.
Remembering that Colin liked to be told what to do, he was about to demand he take that cock back in his mouth and suck it some more. That thought was short lived once he felt that same magical tongue swipe across his balls and suck one of the tight little rocks into his mouth.
Holy fuck! I’m not going to survive this.
The orgasm that was building would surely kill him in a fiery blaze of glory. Oh, but it would be one hell of a way to go.

#WritersRockWednesday with Rhea Regale

Today we have Rhea Regale telling us about how she became a writer. Here's her story ~

If you were to ask me when I was still 9 what I wanted to be when I grew up, writer would NOT have been my answer.  I'd much rather clean a bathroom before I sat down to read or write.  It wasn't until my closest friend gave me a thriller as a birthday present that I found a love for reading.  I devoured books in this genre, as well as the paranormal genre, but I wasn't always satisfied with the way a story went or the way it ended.

My first attempt at writing happened during Christmas break when I was 11.  My closest friend and I (we were inseparable) decided that we should try and write a story.  Sounded like loads of fun to me!  I couldn't wait to create a story that I had control over.  The characters were mine.  The idea was mine.  The plot-I really didn't grasp the concept of a plot back then-was mine.

My earlier books will never see the world outside my filing cabinet, but it sparked my love for writing.

I started writing in the genre I read and branched out to paranormal.  Had I been asked if I'd ever write romance back then, I would've rejected the very notion vehemently, despite those secret scenes I left out of my books that focused on the on-page romance that I decidedly kept off the page.  Only after I had my first child did I creep into the romance department of the bookstore and purchase my first romance, red-cheeked and all.

One book turned into a massive library very quickly and I finally made the leap into romance writing.  I couldn't believe that I had suppressed my love of romance for so long!  I found my true niche.  My earlier works were mainstream (under a different name).  I mean, after all, I would never write erotic romance.  Well, then I ventured into erotic romance and swore I would never ever write menage romance.  Guess what happened?  Yep.  I went down the menage path.  I love writing menage books, erotic romance, light erotic romance, but I would never never ever write anything that contained a male/male relationship.  Ha.  Did that too.

My journey to becoming a writer was filled with a lot of "nevers," but "never" for me is a self-imposed challenge. I am a competitive person, even when it's against myself.  I love writing.  I love my characters.  I love building worlds, living in those worlds while I'm writing, and recalling those worlds when I'm through.  I write from my heart, and will continue to write as long as I can.

[Ménage Amour: Erotic Cowboy Ménage a Trois Romance, M/F/M, bondage, spanking, sex toys, HEA]
Brianna Cabot has one goal coming to Ryder, Kansas, with coworker and boyfriend, Jackson Morrell. Contract land for their boss’s new luxury resort to lock in a golden promotion. A brutal car accident puts a dent in her plans. So does Ryder’s handsome sheriff and partial owner of the prime property, Rylan Ryder.
Nine months ago, Rylan lost his girlfriend to Crosslane. Rescuing Brianna draws on painful memories of having been helpless to save the woman he had loved, but stirs awake long forgotten desires. Their ongoing feud over her boss’s proposal fuels the escalating attraction between them. Unfortunately, the woman is his closest pal’s girlfriend, and therefore off-limits. Little does he know, Jackson has a plan of his own to lure Rylan into their relationship and share a woman neither man can do without.
Even the most carefully laid plans are threatened when someone from Brianna’s past arrives, who has no intention of leaving without his prize.

Excerpt:
“Rylan, I’m not askin’ you, or your family, to abandon your town,” Brianna started.
“Listen to me, Miss Cabot—”
“Brianna, please.”
Rylan held her gaze steady for a long, heart-pounding moment. Time might’ve slowed, she couldn’t be sure, but her thoughts came to a halt. Rylan became the only being of her focused attention, as did his encouraging words in those moments she thought she was dying. Jackson opened a door last night, one she was scared to death to cross. He read her as clear as crystal, knew she held something for the sheriff, and offered them a chance to invite Rylan into their relationship.
“You okay?”
Brianna blinked the haze from her eyes. Rylan’s arm stretched toward her, and when she looked down, he was holding her coffee cup upright. Occasional ripples swept along the top of the drink, a giveaway to her trembling fingers.
“Brianna.”
Oh. My. God.
Her name rolled off his tongue smooth, silky, filled with a raw edge of command. This man had a voice that raked down her body like the teasing scrape of teeth and nails in the throes of foreplay. Each letter of her name spoken in his deep, sexual husk flicked along her pussy, a phantom tongue playing across her clit.
Miss Cabot. Call me Miss Cabot again.
Brianna carefully placed her cup on an empty section of his desk and loosened the scarf around her neck. She worked up a forced smile, cleared her throat, and nodded.
“I’m fine. Probably just some aftereffects of medication and the surgery and whatnot.” She flicked her hand in a nonchalant fashion and unbuttoned her coat. She laughed, shrugging out of the insulating item. “As we were sayin’.”
Rylan’s penetrating gaze didn’t lighten up, even as he eased back into his chair, perched his elbows on the arms, and folded his hands below his chin. His index fingers tapped together, a subtle furrow creasing his left brow. No matter what, this man knew how to wear every expression in the sexiest way.
“You’re still pressin’ the topic, are you? As I was about to say, there will be no further discussion. Colt and I own that property jointly. If I am not willin’ to sell, it won’t be sold. And I’ll tell you this much. You think I’m bein’ stubborn, wait ’til you confront Colt. This is a dead end for you. I’m sorry about your promotion, but your motivations do not align with mine. Ryder is a town rooted in our ancestry. We’re country folk. Farmers, ranchers, rodeo competitors, cattle herders. We have absolutely no interest in promoting a five-star resort and spa in conjunction with the ranch. That is not what this town represents.”
Balling up her courage, she placed together her business ego and took to a dangerous tactic. “I understand Colt might be facin’ civil charges in the murder—”
“I’m sorry, I’m not discussin’ that with you.” Hot to cold, like a damn switch. Rylan rolled his chair to her with a single, strong kick against the floor. One fluid twist, he had his legs on either side of hers, hands wrapped tightly around the metal arms of her chair, and he leaned closer to her. Brianna kept her shoulders straight, but her blood was threatening to melt through her veins and leak into her body. Nothing about Rylan offered comfort or kindness as he hovered close. Everything about him was wild, raw, a predator with his eyes on his prey. The fine line of threat and passion blended.
Jackson said he was a passionate man. If this is what he brings to bed, god help me.
“You have no business castin’ assumptions about my cousin’s predicament when you can’t even get the facts about your promotion-promisin’ deal right. You toss another sucker punch like that, Miss Cabot, and I will chase you out of this town faster than a bull in an arena ever could. Do I make myself clear?”
Oh he did, except for the slip of his gaze lowering to her mouth that turned up the heat between them to an explosive degree. She fought to keep each breath steady and even, praying he didn’t notice the frantic thumping of her heart that filled her own ears and hit her chest wall so viciously she thought her sweater was thumping in time. She held her ground, challenging him as he held tight to the chair. Slowly, she leaned into him, bringing her face dangerously close to his. Her knees fell open, resting against the insides of his powerful thighs. She watched his pupils expand, swallowing the amber-brown of his eyes. His nostrils flared and his breath hitched.
Brianna folded her hands around the arms of her chair, her fingers reinforcing Rylan’s grip. “You’re threatenin’ me, Sheriff. I don’t take lightly to bein’ threatened.” She gave his fingers a gentle squeeze. “Would this be considered a form of restraint? I thought restrainin’ a person without probable cause was illegal.”

“This is nothin’, Brianna.”

Rhea's Bio:
Growing up, I was always the quiet girl who knew everyone but never quite fit in. I kept busy with dance, cheerleading, and numerous other activities. I was an overachiever, a hard worker, and very dedicated to anything I pursued. When I decided that I loved writing enough to follow along the writer’s career path, nothing deterred me from reaching my goals. I didn’t go to college straight out of high school, but rather focused all my free time and energy into my stories. Negativity could not steer me off the path of my dreams. It only made me more determined to succeed as a writer. Now, with a loving family, I continue to do what I love most. Write from my heart and share my stories with the world.
